Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho. The Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho (BCMCFL), is the result of a public-private partnership between Baylor College of Medicine International Pediatric AIDS Initiative and the Government of Lesotho, and is a legal, non-profit/tax exempt organization registered in Lesotho. BCMCFL provides free paediatric and family-centered HIV and tuberculosis prevention, care, treatment and support, serving thousands of children and families affected by HIV, TB, or other child health conditions.

BCMCFL is looking for highly qualified candidates to fill in the following positions on a full-time, Fixed-Term Contract basis.

PROTECT Project – Qacha’s Nek

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the identification of nurses to be attached at Baylor COE and SCOEs as part of the mentorship
  • Mentor nurses at health facilities in collaboration with DHMT officials and/or project medical officers
  • Train, mentor, and supervise healthcare professionals on pediatric HIV and TB/HIV care and treatment
  • Ensure prompt and proper reporting of ALPEC project activities
  • Identify patients lost to follow-up and coordinate telephone outreach or home visits with counselors
  • Coordinate contact tracing of patients diagnosed with TB
  • Coordinate and plan for HTC campaigns in the community such as daycares, preschools, and orphanages as well as family testing within the facility
  • Support scale-up of recency testing
  • Support rapid linkage of HIV pos clients
  • Support pediatric VL monitoring within the facilities
  • Provision of PrEP to AYP at substantial risk of HIV infection
  • Communicate regularly with project leader regarding implementation of activities
  • Coordinate with other ALPEC implementing partners in the district to ensure the success of the project
  • Perform other duties that are assigned by the Administration.

Educational Qualifications, Work Experience and Key Competencies

  • Degree in General Nursing
  • Current registration with the Lesotho Nursing Council as a Nurse Midwife
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in HIV/AIDS care and treatment
  • Experience working with adolescents and young people will be an added advantage.
  • Good report writing, training and computer skills
  • Willingness to adapt to the changing demands of the position.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to meet targets.
