Operator : Relief (SLS) ( P13 )
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Sappi Tugela Mill is looking for an Operator: Leave Relief (SLS) who will effectively manage and control resources within his area of responsibility (SLS Spray Dryer & Raw Materials tester) with the objective of producing quality and quantity products according to customer requirements, mill standards and plant objectives.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts Plant inspection to ensure that the equipment is in a safe working condition.
- Start-up and shut down Spray Dryer plant according to procedure.
- Monitors and controls plant to meet production targets according to making plan.
- Analyses product quality results, reports on quality defects and takes corrective action.
- Monitors and controls SD Decanter and associated equipment.
- Monitors and controls Stack centrifuge and associated equipment.
- Monitors and controls SLS stock movement from SD plant to Warehouse.
- Ensures that the SLS bags are filled to the correct weight and labelled correctly according to quality specifications.
- Clearing blockages in lines, pumps, rotary valves, scrubber, etc.
- Takes SLS liquid and powder samples to the laboratory testing.
- Liaise with Copeland and SLS operators in execution of production plans.
- Inputs production & quality data into LIS and PTS systems.
- Completes operator log sheet and checklist.
- Controls inventory of bulk bags, labels and other packaging materials.
- Relieves Bagging plant operator during lunch & toilet breaks.
- Follow all reasonable instruction given by Pulp Foreman.
- Correctly takes Ligno-sulphonate samples (testing of Solids, PH, etc.) as per specifications and procedure.
- Correctly transfers and drains lingo-sulphonate, from/to storage tanks as per Foremen/Specialist instruction.
- Changes over and cleans strainer daily.
- Loads and Offloads Road tankers as per delivery notes.
- Conducts Isolation Permits as /when required.
- Assist Copeland Field Operator with Sodium Sulphite productions, using of Forklift and Over Head Crane to move/lift Sodium Bags.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
- Matric and/or N3 Pulp and Paper (4 subjects) and/or NQF Level 4 Qualification
- Computer Literacy (SAP & MS Office)
- Minimum 2 – 3 years’ Plant Operations Experience
