Purpose of the job/Role intent
Operator Maintenance position is critical to ensure that essential maintenance activities are executed timeously to support Opencast Operations. Maintain mechanical equipment and Mobile Manufacturing Units (MMU’s).
Required outputs: Functional
- Remove and fit back MMU wheels.
- Remove and fit back MMU plant pumps

Remove and fit back hydraulic components (Pumps, motors, pipes and cylinders)

Assist removing MMU drive train components (G/Box, prop shafts and differentials)

Must assist with mechanical and electrical repairs/breakdowns

Identification of defects and reporting to senior personnel

Cleaning of spares and equipment

Housekeeping in and around workshop

Fault finding

Assembling of mechanical components
Job Requirements
Qualifications and expertise required:
- Grade 12 with Maths, Science & English (must)

Mechanical trade qualification (preferred)

Valid C1 driver’s licence (must)
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years as a maintenance operator/assistant
Specific experience and knowledge required:
– Basic mechanical maintenance experience
- Preventative maintenance execution

Ability to carry out inspections and complete defect reports
