Operator: Drying x 3 (P12)
To control the smooth running of the plant in order to maintain the best production rate and produce A grade pulp.
REPORTING TO :Continua Chargehand
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure that flooding at the cutter, wire machines, Unitizer, sheet breaks are at a minimum including changes in pulp quality and moisture control.
- Ensure the smooth running of the plant and attend to any problems or operational faults
- Assist the Chargehand and other Operators in changing felts and/or plastic mesh.
- Monitor machine settings on DCS and in the field
- Check the labour force and report all mechanical, instruments or electrical faults or any problems which may occur on conveyors or wire and wrapping machines.
- Start-up or shut down the plant as required.
- Maintain all necessary production documentation including brown paper usage, wire usage, lost time incidents, B grade production.
- Operate the Media and Forte computers and maintain production parameters.
- Ensure that safety procedures are adhered to including good housekeeping.
- Ensure that planned job observations and SHARP observations are done.
- Attend to problems on the baling line.
- Inspect wrapping quality of the bales and reports any defects to the Chargehand.
- Ensure drivers offload raw materials at designated areas.
- Take pulp sheet samples and analyse for moisture and basis weight
- Ensure the wire and brown paper is available for changes

- Operate the Media and Forte’ computers to set and maintain production parameters

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12 with an N3 in related field
- 5 years relevant experience
