Stanger Mill
Operator: Cartoniser ( P13 )
Sappi Stanger Mill requires an Operator Cartoniser to ensure an efficient cutting operation of the Will Cutter and associated packaging line so that optimum production rate is maintained on a continuous basis in compliance with SHEQ.
The main responsibilities of this job are:
- Works from the inspector to the strappers
- Help with loading of new strapper rolls
- Check the product quality on the line
- Machine set up of inspector, accumulator, cartonizer/lidder, conveyor rails and assist with machine setup
- Loading of backstands
- Check material in material store for product changes
- Remove all part pallets
- Assist with the loading of pallets on palletizer
- Assist Will Operator with the joining of tapes
- Operation and production of the Will Pemco line and the quality of sheeted paper i.e. wrapped reams, boxes and pallets
- Responsible for the safety of the other crewmembers i.e. when loading of reels, moving machinery
- Responsible for the housekeeping at the inspector, accumulator and strapper area
- Reporting any mechanical electrical and instrumentation faults to minimize downtime
- Ensure at shift changeovers all relevant information is passed to incoming shift
- Responsible to the Shift Foreman for any other jobs designated
- Responsible for all operational aspects (including quality) on the Pemco Line
- Assist the other Operators in trouble shooting
- Reporting all problems on the Will Pemco Line to the Shift Supervisor.
- Comply with all Sappi rules and regulations and the OHS Act
- Assist with feeding of paper sheets through the sheeter on sheet breaks
- Make up defective replacement bases/lids for boxes identified sub-standard
- Replaces polycord when required on backstand of cartonizer.
- Teaches inspector for calibration
- Ensure glue pot at the cartonizer is full at all times glue pot is cleaned and glue nozzles are maintained for effective gluing of bases and lids
- Change-out glue nozzles when necessary
The ideal candidate should have:
- Matric + Full N2 Pulp & Paper (4 subjects)/ NQF Level 4 / NCV Level 4 Paper Board
- Equipment Driver’s license
- Computer literate preferred
- 1 year working experience in a manufacturing industry
