About Riders for Health Lesotho

Riders for Health Lesotho is a Non-Governmental Organisation and Social Enterprise supporting the health sector with transport logistics solutions. The organisation aims to ensure that healthcare reaches everyone, everywhere, especially those isolated by distance, terrain, socio-economic status and location.

Role

The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring that technical operations across all maintenance units meet Riders for Health standards, and that technical competence and performance are continuously improved over time.

Responsibilities include overseeing all technical work, vehicle maintenance, fleet management and supply chain for timely maintenance and replacement of parts, training and development of technicians, rider and driver training including road safety, assuring that technical and health and safety processes are adhered to, and assuring that maintenance units are kept clean and tidy.

The Operations Manager is responsible for the effective management and continuous improvement of Riders for Health’s transport management operations.

Key Responsibilities

General Management

  • Supervise operations staff and maintain the reputation of Riders for Health.
  • Ensure technical operations function efficiently and report to the Country Director.
  • Contribute to policy and planning relevant to operations.

Performance Management

  • Analyze operational performance data to drive improvements.
  • Submit periodic performance reports and enhance operations performance.

Road Safety

  • Oversee road safety functions, including accident reporting and training development.
  • Ensure implementation of strategies to reduce accidents and that the vehicles are looked after properly.

Vehicle Maintenance

  • Oversee maintenance schedules and ensure compliance with manufacturers’ specifications.
  • Monitor workshop standards and vehicle servicing quality.

Supply Chain Management

  • Develop an efficient supply chain for parts and tools.
  • Monitor inventory and maintain an updated asset register.
  • Ensure proper security and cleanliness of stores and workshops.

Health and Safety

  • Enforce health and safety procedures across all operations.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Technical certification in automotive and mechanical engineering.
  • Business Administration, Logistics and Supply Chain Management or related field will be an added advantage.
  • 5+ years of experience managing an automotive workshop, preferably NGO or dealership experience.
  • High technical competency and ability to train others.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid vehicle driving licence with a clean driving record of 10 years and above.
  • Fluency in English.

Salary

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
