The FunDza Literacy Trust is a non-profit organisation with a mission of getting young people across South Africa reading and writing for pleasure. FunDza has an online reading platform that publishes a diverse range of local content relevant to its readership. It focuses strongly on supporting and developing new and emerging writers. Its online platform reaches more than 300,000 unique users monthly and it is constantly looking at new ways to grow this readership and deepen its impact.

As an ideal candidate, you will be highly skilled in human resources, finance, and IT management. You will also be able to demonstrate success in managing a team toward maximum productivity. In addition, you will display a proven ability to develop and maintain an environment of trust, diversity, and inclusion within the organisation.

The key elements of the job include:
Oversee the reporting and financial compliance of grants and donor agreements
Report on programme performance and metric achievement
Lead efforts to improve programme efficiencies, effectiveness, and alignment
Implement, monitor and evaluate programmes against set criteria
Manage staff training and development
Maintain, update and implement all policies
Assist in identifying and addressing issues of high risk
Manage and oversee IT infrastructure
Lead the annual review of all external suppliers
Requirements/recommendations:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field
5+ years related work experience (e.g. administration, accounting, finance, grants management)
Strong leadership and analytical skills
Exceptional communication, coaching and negotiation skills
A solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics
A high proficiency in computer skills (Word, PowerPoint and Excel); knowledge of Google Suites is advantageous
Ability to diagnose problems quickly and have foresight into potential issues
Highly organized and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Experience in management of operations for an NGO preferred
Ability to work well in a small team, and to manage others with sensitivity and assurance
Proven team player
Valid driver’s license

Please note: This is a full-time position based in our office in Westlake, Cape Town, starting at the beginning of 2022. No relocation costs will be covered. The first three months form part of a probation period. The remuneration is aligned to qualifications and work experience.
