Position Overview
OnePower Lesotho (1PWR) is seeking a dedicated Operations & Maintenance Engineer to oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and performance optimization of our power generation assets. The successful candidate will ensure reliable asset performance through proactive monitoring, maintenance planning, and technical support while maintaining compliance with contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive O&M plans in full compliance with operational contracts and regulatory requirements
- Conduct routine monitoring of asset performance through SCADA systems and other monitoring platforms
- Provide timely response to system events, alarms, and operational anomalies
- Execute scheduled preventative maintenance activities according to established protocols
- Log all operational activities and maintain accurate records through ticketing systems
- Coordinate corrective maintenance actions and customer service requests
- Execute, validate, and document corrective and preventative maintenance measures at field sites
- Provide direct and remote technical guidance to service technicians and contractors performing field O&M activities
- Update and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation
- Demonstrate clear and effective communication skills with diverse stakeholders
- Participate in on-call rotation duties as assigned by supervisor
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize operational efficiency
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technical field, or related discipline (preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience in operations and maintenance, preferably in power generation or industrial facilities
- Proven track record of successful O&M project delivery and asset management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Sesotho
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with advanced document formatting capabilities
- Experience with SCADA systems and industrial monitoring platforms
- Understanding of maintenance management systems and ticketing platforms
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking
- Flexibility to adapt to changing operational requirements and emergency situations
