OnePower (1PWR) is seeking a Maseru-based Operations and Maintenance Lead. This position involves responsibility for operational workflow, asset management and customer relations, reporting to management to provide support for 1PWR renewable energy projects in the operations phase. The successful candidate will be highly process development oriented. As a fast growing startup, 1PWR is in a phase of building out systems and processes that will enable us to scale our operations across Lesotho and eventually throughout Africa. The right candidate will be a leader with exceptional organizational skills who can anticipate and execute on business and technical needs in collaboration with management, who is both a forward thinker skilled in planning and creating a vision for the team and a high performer able to get things done while meeting quality standards and with timely adherence to deadlines.
Job responsibilities:
- Develop and implement of O&M plans in compliance with O&M contracts
- Develop and improve database integrated systems and platforms to illustrate and analyze historical and real time technical and financial asset performance
- Routine monitoring and reporting of asset performance via SCADA and specialized in house systems including key metrics (energy generation, energy sales, disaggregated and aggregated rolling averages, trends etc.)
- Scheduling, logistics planning, executing, validating and logging corrective and preventative measures at sites meeting key performance indicators for uptime/availability while tracking and quantifying O&M effort
- Direct and remote supervision of 1PWR service technicians and contractors performing O&M at field sites
- Deliver high quality customer service: creating and implementing a vision, quickly identifying issues and executing solutions meeting key performance indicators for response and resolution time
- Maintenance of spare parts and tools inventory
- Update documentation of standard operating procedures and generating performance reports
- Grow the team and its capabilities as the asset portfolio grows and company needs evolve
Note: While this position will be based in Maseru, it will require close collaboration with work happening at 11 field sites across Lesotho, including travel to sites 25-50% of the time.
What we look for:
- Bachelor’s Degree holder with at least 5 years of work experience in Energy and/or Operations and Maintenance
- Understanding of electric power generation, distribution and metering, circuit protections, and solar PV-battery and backup generator technical operation fundamentals for high level fault troubleshooting
- Familiarity with business software (Office), power flow and circuit diagrams, CAD, SCADA tools
- Legal and technical aspects of contract terms and conditions
- Strong interpersonal skills for supervision of and interface with internal teams (O&M, construction, finance, EHS) and external contractors and stakeholders
