Go for Gold is an award-winning education to employment public-private initiative. We have an internationally recognised four-phase programme that aims to educate young people by tackling the skills shortage in the Engineering and Built Environment and related sectors, while simultaneously addressing youth unemployment. We have partnered with various stakeholders to achieve this by using an innovative and collaborative approach.

Go For Gold seeks to appoint Operation Manager to be based in Cape Town.

The role of the job is Working in a small tight-knit team, driven to fulfil the organisations visions and mission. You would be reporting to the Managing Director. The Operations Manager is responsible for building and executing the operations of Go for Gold to maximise impact.

Responsibilities:
Operations:
Fine-tune current operations systems to support the implementation of Go for Gold’s Mission;
Contribute operations information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews;
Work closely with the Managing Director to set and/or implement policies, analyse and improve organizational process and workflow, employee and space requirements, implement changes and to follow through with implementation;
Set up lean and effective meeting systems for tactical and strategic decision making;
Oversee Report including data collecting for reporting including program feedback, testimony and harvesting information for M&E;
Build and grow feedback loops to document and disseminate the impact of programs to staff, the Board and our Funders;
Work closely with staff to ensure smooth role out of all operations, planning, documentation and event co-ordination;
Manage and develop the weekly internal communications to Go for Gold’s staff (Weekly bulletin);
Updating Managing Director about any deviations, dangers and risks to Go for Gold;
Daily reporting on responsibilities to Managing Director
Human Resources:
In partnership with the Managing Director recruit and manage staff;
Liaise with HR consultant to ensure compliance with BCEA and common labour relations act etc;
Manage all staff through clear contracts and performance appraisals, KPI’s and SOP’s;
Promote regular and ongoing opportunities for all staff to give feedback on program operations;
Manage casuals and volunteers;
Governance:
Maintain existing accreditation, legal systems to ensure Go for Gold fulfils commitment to funders;
Oversee board, Advisory board and HR committee meetings;
Instil compliance with PAIA and POPI;
Information Technology:
Facilitate IT resources for staff members and beneficiaries;
Facilitate requests/complaints from staff related to IT resources;
Research quotes and access information around IT needs;
Finance:
Have a key understanding of the working of organisational budgets, financial management system, monitoring of spend and financial decision implications;
Audit payroll documents for sign off by Managing Director;
Prepare summary of payroll for monthly pay run;
Oversee leave forms system and attendance registers and files;
New Ventures:
Work closely with the Director around creation of ideas, budgets, funding, support and implementation of new projects;
Ensure the smooth operational implementation of new projects, programmes and activities;
General:
To be known, visible and of professional conduct when active in your work at all times, e.g. dress code, friendly and helpful, etc;
To uphold the standards, policies and procedures of Go for Gold;
To encourage and maintain open and efficient lines of communications with all staff and relevant stakeholders, both verbal and written;
The position does require the incumbent to be on call or work on Saturdays;

Qualifications and Capabilities:
Minimum undergraduate
5 years’ experience in a similar position
Excellent Microsoft office skills
Excellent English competence.
Driver’s license and own vehicle.
Preference Given to Candidate with:
Non-Profit Organisation experience
Some basic graphic design experience
English, IsiXhosa, Afrikaans language skills
