Title: Open-Source Prometheus Contributor

Timescale is looking for an experienced OSS developer to contribute to the Prometheus project. Experience contributing to Prometheus is a major plus, but developers with experience contributing to other open-source projects will also be considered.

At Timescale, we believe we should be contributors not only to Timescale’s products and services but also for related communities, such as Prometheus and Postgres. As members of the Prometheus ecosystem, we believe it’s only right that we give back to the Prometheus community. That’s where you come in!

You will be contributing to the Open-Source Prometheus project. You will work on projects that are important to Timescale’s integration with Prometheus as well as projects that have nothing to do with Timescale at all but are valuable to the Prometheus community. When applying for this position you will be required to Link to a public PR submission of your work on an Open-Source project.

We, as a company, believe in open-source and believe in giving back to the ecosystems we are part of. Our commitment to you is that at least half of your development time will be dedicated to contributing to OSS Prometheus.

Timescale is a remote-first organization; this is a full-time position and is fully remote (timezones UTC-8 to +3).

Responsibilities:

  • Be a contributing member to the Prometheus community.
  • Work with the Prometheus community to determine high-impact projects to work on.
  • Write production-level code for Prometheus
  • Work with the Prometheus developers to create PRs and merge code.
  • Help the Prometheus project with code reviews, design and planning.
  • Help facilitate and align Timescale’s development work with Prometheus.
  • At least half of your development time will be working on OSS Prometheus.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Strong Go skills and knowledge of modern software development practices
  • Past contributions to Prometheus is a major plus
  • Passion for open-source development and culture
  • 3+ Years as an open-source developer
  • Ability to work in a fast paced start-up environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
