Role Summary:
The Mechanical Field Service Technician troubleshoots and repairs Flowserve’s pumps and equipment for our customers in industries such as oil and gas, chemical, nuclear, coal, and waste water industries. The Field Service Technician will repair and install equipment, oversee start-up, conduct maintenance, and monitor the performance of products at our customers’ locations. The position is on-the road most of the time, and is organizationally based in the global Quick Response Centre (QRC) network.

- Aptitude in mechanical and related engineering and a desire to work in field service, specifically to satisfy customer requirements.
- Skilled in the repair of large, high-end, single-stage and multi-stage pumps; laser alignment, rigging, and pump seals.

Experienced in removing and installing pump bases (epoxy grout, including pressure grout).

Knowledgeable about the industrial applications and operations of pumps.

Capable to successfully lead work crews.

Able to explain mechanical problems, and articulate the thinking behind recommendations.

Excellent ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and schematics.

Capable in Outlook, Word and Excel.

Must be able to travel 90% of the time with frequent overnight stays as required.

Must have an active driver’s license with a good driving record and be able to pass a DOT physical; will drive company truck.

Physical activity is required, including lifting up to 50 pounds, ascending/descending ladders and staircases, and climbing in, under, and around large equipment.

Where associates/candidates do not have the skills documented within the position requirements, appropriate training will be given to enable the competency to be reached.
Associates/candidates will be graded using the competency matrix to enable a training plan to be implemented.

- Actively support a positive SHEA culture to reduce lost time injuries and recordable accident frequency rate and maintain a safe hazard free work environment.

Oversee the full cycle of repair: disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, and assembly.

Work side-by-side with our customer’s personnel, and lead work crews as required.

Monitor the maintenance and performance of Flowserve equipment.

Train customers in the proper procedures for operating and maintaining Flowserve products.

Identify field service sales opportunities for sales to follow up, quote and presentation to the customer.

Maintain organized, accurate, timely records, including daily reports, jobs quoted, jobs performed, and time and materials charged using FLS designated systems and processes.

Load timesheets into Aftermarket Portal (AMP) system including summary reports on a daily basis.

Load JSEA into AMP at start of job and maintain as per JSEA Policy
