Vitality Health is a leading healthcare services provider in Lesotho delivering integrated healthcare solutions across medical clinics, emergency medical services (EMS), occupational health services, pharmacies, and healthcare financing products.
As part of its expansion into occupational health and emergency medical services for major infrastructure and industrial projects, Vitality Health is seeking to recruit a highly experienced and motivated Occupational Medicine Doctor to lead its occupational health and emergency medical operations.
The successful candidate will play a strategic leadership role within the organisation and will serve as the primary clinical liaison between Vitality Health and its key client.
Position Overview
The Occupational Medicine Doctor will be responsible for:
- Clinical leadership
- Operational management
- Strategic oversight of occupational health clinics and emergency medical services
The role includes supervising clinical teams, conducting occupational health assessments, managing medical emergency response services, and ensuring compliance with occupational health regulations and best clinical practices.
The position is a senior leadership role within Vitality Health and forms part of the Executive Committee (EXCO) responsible for implementing organisational and strategic objectives.
The contract duration is three (3) years, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and project requirements.
The position is open to both local and foreign nationals willing to relocate and work in Lesotho.
Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical Leadership and Governance
- Provide professional leadership and oversight for occupational health and emergency medical services
- Ensure delivery of high-quality clinical services aligned with international occupational health standards and medical ethics
- Develop and implement clinical protocols, treatment guidelines, and medical operational procedures
- Ensure compliance with national health regulations and occupational safety standards
2. Occupational Health Services
- Conduct comprehensive occupational health medical assessments, including:
- Pre-employment medical examinations
- Periodic medical surveillance
- Fitness-for-work assessments
- Exit medical examinations
- Interpret diagnostic tests including:
- Chest X-rays
- Audiometry
- Laboratory tests
- Functional capacity evaluations
- Provide expert advice on occupational health risk management
3. Emergency Medical Services Oversight
- Provide clinical supervision of emergency medical services and ambulance operations
- Establish and maintain medical protocols for trauma and emergency care
- Provide medical support and guidance during critical emergency incidents
- Ensure readiness and operational effectiveness of EMS teams and equipment
4. Clinic Operations Management
- Oversee daily operations of the occupational health clinic
- Supervise multidisciplinary clinical staff including:
- Medical Doctors
- Nurses
- Paramedics
- Radiographers
- Laboratory personnel
- Ensure efficient patient flow, quality assurance, and clinical documentation standards
5. Client Liaison and Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the primary clinical liaison between Vitality Health and its client
- Participate in client meetings and health and safety coordination sessions
- Provide professional advice to client management on workplace health risks and preventative strategies
- Prepare clinical and operational reports for both Vitality Health and clients
6. Executive Leadership Role
- Serve as a member of the Vitality Health Executive Committee (EXCO)
- Contribute to the implementation of organisational strategic plans
- Participate in senior management decision-making processes
- Support business development initiatives related to occupational health services
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must possess:
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB / MBBS or equivalent)
- Postgraduate qualification or training in Occupational Medicine (preferred)
- Valid medical practitioner registration with a recognised medical council
- Valid driver’s licence
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5 years post-internship clinical experience
- Experience in occupational health or industrial medicine
- Experience in emergency medicine, trauma care, or emergency medical services
- Experience managing clinical teams or healthcare facilities
- Experience working in mining, construction, or industrial environments (advantageous)

Remuneration
A competitive remuneration package will be offered commensurate with qualifications and experience, including relocation support for successful international candidates where applicable.
