Position: Occupational Health and Safety Manager (OHS Manager)
Job Description
The Occupational Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for all occupational health and safety functions, including but not limited to:
- Serve as the Health and Safety Manager for the Joint Venture.
- Supervise and monitor the contractor’s Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) systems and their implementation.
- Provide OH&S support to the Resident Engineer (RE) team on site.
- Prepare OH&S reports, including non-conformance reports.
- Work on a full-time basis in Lesotho throughout the construction period.
Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- An accredited Occupational Health and Safety qualification at NQF Level 6 or higher.
- An accredited qualification in Civil Engineering or a similar technical field.
Experience
Applicants must have:
- At least ten (10) years’ experience in Occupational Health and Safety on large civil engineering projects.
- A minimum of fifteen (15) years’ post-qualification experience in dam construction or other large civil engineering works.
- Proven experience managing and implementing ISO 9000 and ISO 45001 management systems on large civil engineering projects with workforces exceeding 1,500 personnel.
Knowledge and Skills
Candidates must demonstrate sound knowledge and experience in:
- Client–Engineer–Contractor contractual relationships.
- Temporary works design.
- Formwork.
- Access scaffolding (SANS 10085:2024).
- Working at Heights (IWH) standards.
- Microsoft SharePoint.
- Microsoft Office (including Excel and Word).
- Health and Safety auditing.
- Occupational hygiene.
- Food safety.
Remuneration
Salary will be based on the Matla-a-Metsi Joint Venture remuneration scales, which are competitive, market-related, and aligned with the client contract.
