Job Description:


Major Responsibilities

Direct implementation of project activities 30%

  • The project Nutrition Facilitator will lead coordination of all project activities in Matelile AP. This primarily entails training of direct beneficiaries on nutrition issues, food preparation, preservation and vegetable production from home gardens.
  • Coordinate directly with local stakeholders to ensure activity roll-out.
  • The position will provide direct service with nutrition clubs and households.
  • Work with relevant stakeholders like Matelile Resource Centre and Matelile Health Centre on training of direct beneficiaries.
  • Continuous monitoring of the nutrition clubs within Ha Thamae Electoral Division

Maintain working relationships Maintain working relationships with stakeholders 20%

  • Play key role in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with the district Ministry of Agriculture & Food Security (Matelile Resource centre) and Matelile Health Centre stakeholders.
  • Liaise with Resource Centre and Health Centre officials, community leaders and other stakeholders in coordinating project activities.
  • Work with relevant stakeholder to achieve organisational mandate

Lead/support capacity building of households, producer groups and other stakeholders 20%

  • Lead and participate in training, coaching and mentorship of targeted households and community leaders & stakeholders in coordinating project activities of targeted households and community leaders at Ha Thamae Electoral Division.
  • Provide direct oversight and support for the training of community direct beneficiaries for direct roll out of activities.
  • Set the dates of the trainings and assemble all required resources to make trainings a success and liase on time with all relevant stakeholders

Support monitoring and evaluation to ensure targets are met 10%

  • Assist in monitoring and evaluation and ensuring quality assurance of activities
  • Support with data collection activities such as baseline, routine monitoring, end line assessment.
  • Good lessons and practices documented and shared with relevant stakeholders. Also be cognizant of pandemics and advice management accordingly.

Manage reports and ensure donor deliverables are met 10%

  • Ensure timely preparation of work plans, budget requests and technical project performance reports and participate in weekly and monthly project performance review meetings.
  • Submit timely project reports from district level to Matelile Area Program Coordinator.
  • Produce quality weekly activity plans , monthly , impacts, semi -annual and annual reports

Knowledge and management 10%

  • Apply basic programme management/approaches (develop work plans, monitor, execute and report on work plans)
  • Facilitate learning from monitoring and evaluation processes
  • Facilitate proper management of knowledge through WV and donor systems
  • Submission of weekly and monthly activity reports and updates to management

Required Professional Experience

  • One plus years experience in a community development role
  • Experience with knowledge of nutrition and agriculture programming preferred
  • Direct experience implementing nutrition and agriculture programming is a distinct advantage
  • Diploma in nutrition or related field with relevant experience in International Non-Governmental Organization.

Preferred Knowledge Qualifications and Core Compentencies

1.         Must have one plus years’ experience in a community facilitator role. Experience with and knowledge of nutrition and agriculture programming will be preferred.

2.         Must have demonstrated experience in organizing and facilitating training, mentorship and capacity building of community members.

3.         Must have experience in coordinating trainings, community activities and logistics at the field level.

4.         Must have sound knowledge of project reporting including familiarity with the data collection and reporting

5.         A direct experience implementing NUTRITION programming is an added advantage

6.         Must have fluency in Sesotho and English 

7.         Proficiency in computer basic skills- MS Office, Internet, Basic data analysis skills

8.         Must be a self-managed, self-driven, results oriented individual with excellent communication, interpersonal report writing and analytical skills.

9.         Must be a dedicated team player with ability and experience to work in a multidisciplinary team.

10.        Must be a committed Christian, ability to stand above denominational diversities.
