Position: Trained Nursing Assistant
JOB SUMMARY
- Nursing Assistant provides basic care to patients under the supervision of registered nurses.
RELATIONS
- Reports directly to Registered Nurse Midwife or Nurse Clinician
- Receives technical direction from Medical Officers on care of individual patients
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Promote and maintain the health of individuals, families, and communities through health education
- Provide care at all settings
- Promote nutrition of patients, families, and communities
- Facilitate communication with patients during their care
- Prepare individuals and groups for execution of diagnostic procedures and therapeutic acts by a registered person
- Monitor clients’ vital signs and report to the Nurse in the unit
- Reassure clients and relatives on the illness of the patient
- Assess the condition of a client where there is a need and report any problem
- Promote exercise, rest, and sleep
- Assist in feeding helpless patients
- Provide safety and security of patients
- Give information, education, and counselling to individuals, families, and communities
- Collect and compile data using specific forms and registers
- Provide MCH services at all levels of care
- Provide care on HIV/AIDS patients including HCT, PMTCT, and ART services at all levels
- Maintain supply of oxygen to the patients
- Carry out health duties assigned related to patients’ care
- Assist nurses in inventory checking and recording
