Overview:
The Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho (BCMCFL), is the result of a public-private partnership between Baylor College of Medicine International Paediatric AIDS Initiative (BIPAI) and the Government of Lesotho, and is a legal, non-profit/tax exempt organization registered in Lesotho. BCMCFL provides free paediatric and family-centred HIV and tuberculosis prevention, care, treatment, and support, serving thousands of children and families affected by HIV, TB, or other child health conditions.
Lesotho/Local Entities Advancing and Driving Health Responses (LEADR) is a multi-year project, funded by USG Department of State, intended to provide effective decentralized, differentiated, and integrated facility and community services to maximize equitable access to comprehensive HIV and TB interventions through a primary health care approach to ensure that clients have access to holistic services. Its goal is to support the Government of Lesotho to deliver high-quality integrated prevention, care and treatment services that will sustain the reduction in HIVand transmission, morbidity, and mortality in Lesotho through the implementation of a comprehensive, person-centered approach. The project is implemented in Butha Buthe and Mokhotlong districts and at the BCMCFL Maseru Centre of Excellence (COE) and Mohale’s Hoek Satellite Center of Excellence (SCOE).
BCMCFL is looking for qualified candidates to fill in the following positions available on a full-time, Fixed-Term Contract basis.
Nurse (x6 Positions)
Locations:
• 2 Based in Butha-Buthe: Motete H/C (x1), Rampai H/C (x1)
• 4 Based in Mokhotlong: Maluba-lube H/C (x1), Linakeng H/C (x1), Molikaliko H/C (x1), Moeketsane H/C (x1)

Position Overview:
The Clinical Nurses will serve as site-level nurses at medium and low-volume, hard-to-reach sites in Butha Buthe and Mokhotlong. The Clinical Nurses will collaborate with other facility-level personnel including professional counsellors, lay counsellors, data clerks and MoH/CHAL nurses for the provision of integrated comprehensive prevention, care and treatment services, in alignment with the MoH primary healthcare model.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care to:
- HIV positive patients in ART corner
- ANC, PNCH, MNCH, and U5 clients
- TB clients co-infected with HIV
- Ensure direct provision of TB and HIV prevention and treatment services
- Ensure provision of cervical cancer screening and treatment services
- Strengthen tracking of clients missing follow-up appointments
- Provide referrals and feedback
- Counsel women on screening and treatment of cervical cancer
- Manage or refer women requiring further cervical care
- Ensure adequate supply of HIV, TB and related medicines and commodities
- Implement infection control and medical waste management
- Ensure timely blood monitoring and review results such as viral load
- Maintain accurate record-keeping of client files and results
- Submit monthly clinical and programmatic summary reports
- Administer urgent medication and emergency procedures
- Perform any other duties as assigned
Educational Qualifications, Experience and Key Competencies:
- General Nursing and Midwifery qualification
- Current registration with Lesotho Nursing Council
- Postgraduate qualification in HIV/AIDS with expertise in HIV care and treatment is an added advantage
- Good report writing, training, and computer skills
