Applications are invited for suitably qualified local candidates for the Positions of Mental Health Nurse, Registered Nurse Midwife and Nursing Assistant at Seboche Mission Hospital. The Incumbents will be expected to perform their individual nursing duties aligning themselves with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and upholding the regulations and policies of Seboche Mission Hospital.
JOB TITLE: Nurse Midwife (1)
RESPONSIBLE TO: CDNS
JOB SUMMARY:
Nursing Sister is accountable for Nursing care, management of a ward or a unit assigned to her/him. She takes full charge of the ward, assigns work for various categories of Nursing and non-nursing personnel with her/him. She is responsible for safety and comfort of the patients in the ward. To join nursing team of the hospital and ensure that high quality care is achieved through optimum performance and use of skills obtained during training to uphold nursing care.
QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS:
– Diploma /Degree in General Nursing & Midwifery, registered with Lesotho Nursing Council and holding the valid license.
– Two years’ experience working as a Midwife will be an added advantage.
MAIN DUTIES:
– Plans and directs nursing care of all patients.
– Oversees the general cleanliness and comfort of the ward.
– Make ward rounds with the doctor and report the progress of the patient
– Draws nursing personnel allocations
– Ensures that nursing and medical treatment and changes of condition are properly recorded on the patients progress report.
– Sends written or verbal notice through the administrator to the maintenance technician/handy men repairs required in her ward or unit.
– In the absence of the Doctor or the Nursing Officer he/she consults the patients gives appropriate treatment and report to the medical officer on arrival.
– Orientates new personnel to job requirements to the ward personnel and surroundings as per CDNS request or in her/his absence.
– Conduct brief ward meetings to discuss patient nursing care needs with the staff in collaboration with the Nursing Officer.
– Re-allocates personnel during emergencies in the absence of CDNS.
– Takes into consideration all patients problems that need urgent attention by M/O on duty, e.g in patient condition, laboratory tests etc.
– Do all procedures beyond the scope of subordinates and teach them as necessary.
– Writes orders, visit all beds during the day and reads the charts to make sure the doctor’s orders are carried out properly
– Maintain good relationship with the patients, relatives and rest of the staff.

The incumbent must have the following qualities that would enable him /her to work productively in the Roman Catholic Health Facility: Professionalism and accountability, high level of maturity, honesty and trustworthy. An individual who is adaptive enough to familiarize himself/herself with the principles of the Roman Catholic Church and its health facilities.
