POST NO 0145: NURSE CLINICIAN

Position Description: Summary

Under the Director Student Affairs and supervision of the nurse-in-charge the candidate shall:
 Diagnose and treat patients
 Carry out nursing duties and ensure quality of care at all times

Primary Duties:
1. To diagnose and treat patients where there is no Doctor/physician.
2. To treat opportunistic infections
3. To educate individuals/groups of patients on health matters.
4. To provide family planning to students, staff and community
5. To conduct cervical cancer screening
6. To provide counseling services on health issues relating to students
including stress, anxiety, tension, HIV/AIDS as well as sexually transmitted infections
7. To initiate HAART to all patients eligible for treatment.
8. To perform minor surgical procedures
9. To orientate new students on current health issues.

Job Requirements:
Education: General Nursing, Midwifery and Diploma in Primary Health Care.

The candidate should be registered with Lesotho Nursing Council and Association.

Work Experience:
Three years or more working experience in a hospital, clinic or recognized health treatment setting. Experience working in a tertiary institution is an added advantage.

Skills:
A very good command of the English Language is necessary in order that the candidate can produce reports for various relevant University Committees.

The University offers salaries and other benefits commensurate with
qualification and experience.

TYPE OF CONTRACT:
Permanent and pensionable/gratuitable for Locals and Contract for Non-Locals.
