POST TITLE: NURSE
DIVISION/DEPARTMENT: DEPARTMENT OF STUDENT AFFAIRS
REPORTS TO: DEAN OF STUDENT AFFARS
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Dean of Student Affairs, the Nurse is responsible for Students and Staff medical attention. He/she develops programmes regarding students and staff medical needs and wellbeing. Develops strategies aimed at behavioural change and combating diseases on LP community.
RESPONSIBILITIES
KEY DUTIES
- Provide Primary Health Care Services to students and the workers at LP.
- Dispensing of drugs/medication to clients.
- Refer complicated services to the nearby health facility/doctor.
- Provide HIV testing and counselling services of all clients.
- Initiate all HIV infected patients including diagnosed at the facility and at community outreaches on ART as per the national care and treatment guidelines.
- Ensure TB screening for all clients including those on ART.
- Screen HIV infected woman for cervical cancer.
- Ensure proper record keeping and timely report submission.
- Assist in providing basic IEC material, conduct health education talks and counselling for TB and HIV/AIDS to clients in the health facility.
- Support the testing of TB infected clients HIV and subsequent enrolment ART of individuals who test HIV+.
- Ensure PLHIV eligible for IPT are timely initiated on INH and pyridoxine in MCH and ART corners.
- Screen students, workers and their families for COVID 19 and test those that are eligible.
- Compile and submit reports to relevant authorities i.e. LP and MOH
- Work with other health care workers/facilities to strengthen patients tracking, community and facility referral feedback.
- Work with MOH District health Management team and support the district in rolling out the COVID 19 vaccine to students and the workers.
- Develop and implement clinic plan and budget.
- Facilitate purchase of clinic medication and equipment.
- Perform other duties as required by the Rector, Dean of Student Affair.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Diploma in general nursing and (Midwife)
- Registration with the Lesotho Nursing Council as a Nurse Midwife
- Five (5) year minimum work experience
- Experience working with adolescents in sexual reproductive health and HIV
- Qualification in HIV and AIDS with expertise in HIV care treatment would be added advantage.
