JOB TITLE: Nurse Anesthetist
RELATION: under supervision of the Coordinator Departmental Nursing Services.
JOB SUMMARY:
He/she is responsible for administering anesthetic medications for patients/clients undergoing surgery and proper monitoring prior, during and after operation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures that the equipment for administering anesthesia is available and in good working condition at all times.
Orders and controls anesthetic, resuscitative medications, medical gases and intravenous fluids.
Ensures an environment that is physically, psychologically, socially and spiritually conducive for the well being of the individual patient.
Does pre-operative visits to assess the condition of the patient and explains the effects of anesthesia.
Ensures that pre-operative medications are administered as prescribed.
Receives and identifies the patient for the right procedure and or operation
JOB SPECIFICATION
– Diploma in Nurse Anesthetist, General Nursing or Midwifery + 2 years working experience
– Must be registered with the Lesotho Nursing Council and updated with the annual subscription
