Position: Nurse Anaesthetist (1)

Job Summary:

The Nurses Anaesthetist shall be under the supervision of the Coordinator Departmental Nursing Servicesin the carrying-out of anaesthesia procedures.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepares and sets up equipment for anaesthesia procedures.
  • Do monitoring, induction, and intubation of patients.
  • Cleans and sterilizes anaesthesia instruments and equipment.
  • Orders anaesthesia supplies and equipment, and ensures the workroom, carts, and outreach areas are well stocked.
  • Maintains department equipment by evaluating performance, inspecting for defects, and scheduling repairs.
  • Orients, teaches, and oversees nurses in the operating room and anaesthesia workroom.
  • May perform cell saving and intra operating room blood salvage, assists in placement of intravenous infusion lines and invasive pressure monitoring devices and lines.
  • May assist with transporting and monitoring patients and any other duties assigned.

Qualifications and Work Experience:

  • Diploma in Anaesthetist Nursing or equivalent; Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery
  • Minimum two years of experience as a Nurse Anaesthetist
  • Registration with the Lesotho Nursing Council as a Nurse Anaesthetist

2. Position: Nursing Assistant (3)

 Job summary:

The Nursing Assistant, under the direct or indirect supervision of the Coordinator Departmental Nursing Service plans and provides skilled direct care across the care continuum using systematic and ethical approaches, whether in the promotive, preventive, curative, rehabilitative or   supportive domains to individuals, families, groups or communities.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure that vital signs are taken and recorded
  • Do bed-making and make sure that patients are in the clean environment
  • Turn bed ridden patients to prevent ailments
  • Ensure availability of emergency trays; and perform any other duties assigned.

Qualifications and work experience:

  • Holder of Certificate in Nursing Assistant obtained from an accredited institution recognised by Lesotho Nursing Council.
  • Registration with Lesotho Nursing Council as Nursing Assistant.
