Applications are invited from suitably qualified local candidates for the following positions tenable in the Ministry of Education and Training:

NON-FORMAL EDUCATION OFFICER, POST GRADE  E (M101 604 -117 828  P/A )LESOTHO DISTANCE TEACHING CENTRE (LDTC)

 

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of service agency coordinator, the NFEO monitors, supervises and plans the activities of LDTC programmers in the villages.

 

Main Duties:

  1. Visits and monitors each learning post from time to time at least once a month for problem solving and provides feedback to the supervisor.
  2. Campaigns for literacy in the villages and establishes new learning posts.
  1. Conducts training workshops for Learning Post Administrators.
  2. Liaises with extension workers – villagers development officials, chiefs and  other  organizations  involved  in  literacy  work  for  community development.
  1. Produces monthly reports and presents such to LDTC Service Agency Coordinator.
  1. Provides advice to literacy and numeracy participants, clients, groups and LDTC accordingly.
  1. Attends to Basic Education unit meetings held once a month.
  2. Participates in workshops and meetings organized whenever called upon i.e. by LDTC, other MOET programs and local authorities.
  1. Supervises and appraises the LDTC clerk in the district of assignment.

 

Job Specification

Diploma in Adult Education plus 2 years working in Literacy programs

OR

Diploma in Primary Education   plus 5 years teaching experience

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Ability to communicate with rural people
  2. Good interpersonal skills
  3. Public speaking skills
  4. Readiness to travel to remote areas, whenever called upon.
