The Opportunity:
Our top South African financial services client who has a footprint in South Africa and in other African geographies currently has an opportunity for a Non-Executive Director to join their Lesotho Board.
Current Board:
- The current Lesotho board has 9 members. Three of which are from within our client’s Group SA leadership from South Africa and the remaining 6 members are the Independent Non-Executive Directors. Of the 6 independent Non-Executives, 4 of them are Lesotho Nationals
- The current board vacancy seeks a Lesotho national – regardless of their base being outside of Lesotho and perhaps residing in South Africa (this is negotiable)
Board Sub–Committees:
- Audit & Risk
- Directors Affairs & Governance
- Remuneration Committee
- Credit Committee
As such the Independent Board Member sought to be appointed would also take part in the Sub Board Committees mentioned above.
MAIN ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities will be varied and include the following critical performance areas:
- The Lesotho Non-Executive Director will expected to contribute to the bank’s board’s effectiveness by providing independent and objective advice in a number of areas, including strategy, performance, risk management and reporting. To be effective, such Non-Executive Director must be competent and demonstrate high ethical standards of integrity and probity
REQUIREMENTS:
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- The ideal candidate would come from a solid Audit and Risk background
- Highly advantageous if they are a qualified Chartered Accountant registered either The Lesotho Institute of Accountants (LIA) or the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA)
- Minimum 12 – 15 years’ working experience
- Commercially savy, solid business acumen
