The NOC Engineer Monitors and respond promptly to any incident relating to the IS backbone. Performing first pass trouble shooting and provide accurate feedback to business and Clients. Liaising with in country service providers and Vendors.
What you’ll be doing

  • Monitor and maintain Core Network uptime
  • Scheduled network maintenance, owning CRQ process. Ensuring completion of changes
  • Perform necessary checks, apply monitoring tools and response to alerts
  • Administration and Management of existing core infrastructure;
  • First pass fault analysis

Problem and Error Diagnostics

  • Identifies problems and errors prior to or when they occur
  • logs incidents in a timely manner with the required level of detail with all the necessary
  • Liaise with all stakeholders including client IT environments, vendors, carriers and colleagues to expedite diagnosis of errors and problems and to identify a resolution.

Incident and Request Resolution

  • Manage efficient and comprehensive resolution of incidents and requests including ensuring that repairs are carried out by coordinating product requests and liaising with other team members
  • Report and escalate issues to 3rd party vendors if necessary.
  • Full ownership for managing the incident to resolution within the service level conditions.
  • Provide continuous feedback to clients and affected parties and update all systems and/or portals as prescribed by procedures
  • Produce breach and other reports that are necessary for the correct operation of processes.
  • They identify failures and short-comings in the current processes and escalate with recommendation.

Problem Management

  • Reports customer line faults with IS’s vendors,
  • Coordinates with Vendors to restore fault as quickly as possible
  • Updates Account and Service Manager information
  • Update and informs IS clients on the status of their faults
  • Updates the customer relationship management system
  • All documentation on the environments such Capacity Management, Availability management, Change management, Problem Management and any other ITIL or ISO20k documentation.

Shift Handovers

  • Comply with handover procedures for shift changes to ensure service continuity
  • Complete and maintain any shift hand hover schedules
  • This is a 24/7 shift environment

Required Skills and competencies

  • 3 years in relevant to environment
  • Working knowledge of Netcool; Sysmon; Syslog; Infinera DNA; Cisco Prime; Siebel;
  • Secondary School Qualification
  • CCNA/A+/N+; MCSE Qualification
  • Solid general understanding of networking
