THE ECONOMIC AND COMMERCIAL COUNSELLOR’S OFFICE OF THE EMBASSY OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA
SCHOLARSHIPS FOR PhD AND MASTER’S PROGRAMMES – 2026
The Loan Bursary Fund (NMDS) invites eligible Basotho nationals to apply for scholarship support offered by The Economic and Commercial Counsellor’s Office of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China. The scholarships are tenable in China for specified full‑time Master’s and PhD programmes for the 2026 academic year.
1. Conditions for Application
Applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Be a Lesotho citizen and medically fit to undertake the scholarship
- Be under 45 years of age (born after 1 September 1981)
- Hold a relevant and competitive Bachelor’s Degree for Master’s studies or a Master’s Degree for PhD studies
- Be employed within the professions of sponsored programmes in Government, Parastatals, NGOs, related Private Sector, Academia, or Research Institutions
- Provide proof of repayment of Bursary Loan in line with approved Loan Bursary Fund criteria (for previously sponsored applicants)
2. Application Requirements

- Copies of online application documents
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Police clearance
- Medical certificate (using the medical form provided via the link below)
- Certified copies of National Identity Document and passport
- Confirmation of inclusion in the training plan
- Proof of Loan Bursary repayment
