The Lesotho Water and Sewerage Company (WASCO) invites applications from suitably qualified local candidates for the following positions:
Job Title: Network Administrator
Reports to: Manager ICT
Purpose of the Role:
To administer, support, and maintain WASCO’s Local and Wide Area Network infrastructure—including all active and passive components, the WASCO PBX, and telephone system—to ensure smooth operations and enhanced communication.
Key Tasks:
1. Network Design and Planning
• Design and plan WASCO’s network in line with best networking standards.
• Manage network capacity and performance through baseline assessments.
• Implement effective server management practices.
• Establish and maintain the Disaster Recovery Site.
• Monitor network trends to determine appropriate interventions.
• Ensure compliance with PABX and telephone budget usage, making necessary adjustments.
• Implement a Service Management Framework through change control.
• Monitor and administer the firewall, anti-virus software, and overall network security.
2. Network Functionality
• Ensure network availability and accessibility within the prescribed Service Level Agreement (SLA).
• Respond to network faults and failures within set response times.
• Support and maintain network components, including but not limited to:
o Routers
o Switches
o Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) o Domain Name System (DNS)
• Configure, back up, and document network devices.
• Ensure complete connectivity with external companies as required by WASCO.
• Consistently implement network security systems.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly activity reports.
3. Database Backups.
• Perform scheduled backups and test restore procedures.
• Ensure that data is replicated daily to the Disaster Recovery Site
Core competencies
• Strong expertise in information and network security.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
1. Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Systems and Network, Information Technology, Computer Networking, or Computing. Computing.
2. A minimum of two years’ experience in network administration is preferred.
3. CCNA certification is an added advantage.
