JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the supervision of the Chief Education Officer – Curriculum and Assessment, the incumbent is responsible for curriculum development and assessment, preparation of the NCDC’s budget, development of the institution’s operation plan, advice on curriculum policies, promotion of research and supervision on the implementation of curriculum and formative assessment activities.
MAIN DUTIES
1. Advises CEO- Curriculum and on strategic planning and leadership on curriculum development processes.
2. Plans and supervises the translation of educational policies into curriculum programmes.
3. Supervises implementation of all curriculum activities designed to effect improvements in syllabus contest, production of instructional materials, implementation and evaluation of curriculum in early childhood education, basic and secondary education levels.
4. Establishes and ensures close links as well as harmonious and professional relationship between the NCDC, tertiary institutions, government departments and other stakeholders involved in curriculum development.
5. Ensures cooperation and coordination within all sections.
6. Plans and implements staff development programmes.
7. Prepares estimates and administers institution budget.
8. Supervises and reports on departmental plans and activities.
9. Promotes innovation and research through general supervision on testing evaluation and research division.
10. Advises the Ministry of Education and Training on curriculum policies.
11. Liaises with related bodies nationally and internationally.
12. Represents NCDC and MOET in relevant professional associations, institutions and projects.
13. Ensures quality performance.
JOB SPECIFICATION
QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s Degree in Education with major in Curriculum Development plus five (5) years relevant work experience.
Bachelor’s Degree in Education plus a postgraduate qualification in curriculum development and education administration with ten (10) years’ experience in curriculum development.
Experience in a management post in education management for not less than five (5) years is crucial.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
