Purpose of Activity/Assignment

The Senior Driver, at the G-3 level, provides reliable and safe driving services to the Head of Office, demonstrating the highest standards of professionalism, discretion, integrity, sense of responsibility, excellent knowledge of protocol, whilst ensuring compliance with local driving rules and regulations.
The Senior Driver demonstrates a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds. To ensure appropriate execution of protocol activities, a consultant who has expertise on UNICEF protocol requirements is needed to mentor the current incumbent.

Scope of Work:
A consultant is required to perform the following tasks:
– Mentor Senior Driver on general protocol activities, including for Representative and IP staff
– Share key contacts and guidance and managing protocol and government-related issues
– Train on professional etiquette, including driving for senior staff and guests, formal and official procedures etc. Provide guidance and advice on managing the fleet, communications etiquette and approaches.

Payment structure (% of the total fee): 100%
Administrative issues:
  • The selection and conditions of service of consultant will be governed by and subject to UNICEF’s Policies and General Terms and Conditions for individual consultants/contractors.
  • No contract may commence unless the contract is signed by both UNICEF and the consultant/contractor.
  • Consultant/Contractor will be required to complete mandatory online courses (e.g. Ethics, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Security) upon receipt of offer and before the signature of contract.
  • Consultant/Contractor will be required to sign the Health Statement for consultants/contractors and to share an applicable proof of health insurance covering medical evacuation (if travel is involved) prior to taking up the assignment.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • A secondary education is required, along with a valid driver’s license and knowledge of local driving rules and regulations.
  • A minimum of three years of work experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy or UN system with a safe driving record is required. Must have worked with UNICEF as Senior Driver previously.
  • Fluency of the local language as well as proficiency in English is required.

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
