‘Mabathoana High School invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of the School Multimedia Librarian. We are looking for an experienced librarian with a passion for learning and books to join our team.
The duties of the School Multimedia Librarian include:
• Developing and updating the library inventory
• Handling requests by patrons
• Researching and implementing new information management techniques
• Coordinating and creating community programs that increase library awareness.
• Facilitating the literacy project
Interested candidates should possess:
• Interpersonal skills as they will regularly interact with patrons and other library employees
• Good communication, computer, and literacy skills
• Excellent listening skills as well as interpretation of messages and good execution of tasks
• The ability to tailor language (fluent speaking of the 2 official languages), tone, style, and approaches to suit the appropriate audience
• Good time-management and organisation skills
• Knowledge of a specific field such as pedagogy and knowledge of a foreign language, such as French, would be an added advantage
• 1 year working experience as a librarian. Relevant work experience acquired from an institute of higher learning would be an added advantage
• Experience using computers and working with electronic databases
• A degree in Library Science or Information Management
The Salary is negotiable
