The African Future Policies Hub (AFPH) is a novel policy-focused support hub that is dedicated to two future policy areas, namely the green and digital economy. AFPH’s mission is to support, empower and connect African countries to drive decisions for a better future for Africa by seizing the opportunities offered by the multiple global transitions, especially in the areas of climate change and the digital transition. We work across five strategic areas: Trade-Climate Nexus, Financing the Green Transition, Green Industrialisation, Digital Transformation and Geopolitics as a cross-cutting theme.
The Role
We are recruiting for a new role to build capacity in tracking and evaluating project impact, managing data collection, and reporting to stakeholders. She/He will primarily be responsible for designing and coordinating the overall monitoring, evaluation, and learning framework for AFPH’s projects as a key component of delivery on AFPH’s pillars.
S/he will be required to develop necessary tools, lead in survey design and data collection efforts, training of staff, oversee organisational overall MEL framework, database management, prepare quarterly reports to funders and stakeholders, and provide feedback and guidance to the program and leadership team on opportunities for continuous program improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Framework Management: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive M&E frameworks, plans, and logical frameworks (Log Frames)/results-based frameworks with clearly defined indicators and targets.
- Data Management: Design data collection tools (e.g., surveys, interviews, field observations), manage data and ensure data quality, integrity, and reliability.
- Analysis and Reporting: Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to assess project progress, outcomes, and impact, then compile findings into reports for internal management, funders, and other stakeholders. Oversee and lead the preparation of high quality monthly analytical reports based on the program monitoring data coming from the field.
- Learning & Adaptation: Document and disseminate case studies, lessons learned, and best practices to inform decision-making and adapt project strategies in real-time.
- Verification: Monitor implementation quality, verify reported data, and engage with local communities/beneficiaries/partners.
Requirements
We are seeking an experienced individual who meets the following criteria:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field such as Development Studies, Statistics, Economics, Social Sciences, Project Management, or Environmental Management.
- At least 3+ years of experience in designing and implementing M&E systems within an NGO environment, preferably with exposure to learning frameworks.
- Strong skills in statistical methods, sampling design and methodology, evaluation methods, causal analysis, and designing research studies.
- In-depth knowledge and proven expertise in developing M&E systems, methods & tools, knowledge products using high quality data analytics.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to collect, process, and interpret quantitative and qualitative date to make informed decisions, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
- Experience in leading and managing large scale data collection, management and analysis in donor funded projects.
- Experience in preparation of donor reports.
