Background
The Maluti Adventist College (MAC) is a Seventh-day Adventist institution of higher learning offering the Diploma in Nursing and Diploma in Midwifery programmes. These programmes are accredited by the Adventist Accrediting Association (AAA), the Council on Higher Education (CHE), and the Lesotho Nursing Council (LNC).
The College delivers its programmes through a competency-based curriculum (CBC) and employs simulation-based education (SBE) as an integral teaching and learning strategy to enhance students’ clinical competence and preparedness for practice. External moderators are therefore expected to be familiar with and uphold the principles and standards of CBC and simulation-based learning and assessment. To uphold academic quality and ensure independent expert oversight, all theoretical and practical assessments are subjected to external moderation.
Purpose of the Appointment
MAC seeks to engage qualified and experienced professionals to serve as External Moderators for its programmes. The appointed individuals will provide independent quality assurance of student assessments and contribute to maintaining the integrity and standards of the College’s examination processes.
Key Responsibilities
The External Moderator shall be responsible for:
- Providing independent and unbiased evaluation of student assessments.
- Verifying that assessment methods are valid, reliable, feasible, and educationally sound.
- Moderating examination papers, memoranda, and marked scripts for assigned theoretical and/or practical modules against the blueprints.
- Preparing and submitting a report outlining observations, conclusions, and recommendations for improvement.
- Liaising with Examiners to ensure clarity of expectations and adherence to academic standards.
- Maintaining the confidentiality and security of examination papers, scripts, and all related assessment materials.

One can apply to moderate a maximum of two modules per semester.

- Research Project
Educational Qualifications and Experience
- Educator holding a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent, or any other relevant discipline; a Master’s or higher degree is an added advantage.
- Nursing Education qualification or any other higher education qualification.
- At least two years’ experience as an examiner.
- At least three years’ teaching experience or clinical instruction experience at a Nurse Training Institution, or related health institution.
- Holds a valid license with national Nursing Council, where relevant.
- Evaluation of qualification certificate.

- Computer literacy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and report writing skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
