164

The annual residential school on governance and development is part of the Governance for Development in Africa programme that we at SOAS run in collaboration with the Mo Ibrahim Foundation.

This initiative aims to contribute to and stimulate debate on governance, development, and the relationship between them. Participants from a range of African countries, and representative of the academic, civil society and government sectors, are selected each year to take part in the residential school. Detailed information, video recordings and participant profiles can be found on the website www.governanceinafrica.org.

Application deadline for the 2019 Residential school will be 31 December 2018.

The Centre of African Studies at SOAS, University of London, is pleased to announce the extension of the Governance for Development in Africa Initiative, funded by the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, for another three years, until 2021. The focus of the project remains the same in terms of creating a dedicated environment to support the study of the socio-economic, political, and legal links between governance and development.

The continuing support of the Mo Ibrahim Foundation aims to enable the improvement of the quality of governance in African countries by building skills within an expert academic environment.
