                                 INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY CELEBRATION

International literacy day (ILD) is commemorated and celebrated worldwide on the 8th of September every year. The purpose is to create awareness and to acknowledge the importance of literacy to world population and among all members of the community.

Lesotho celebrated since 1981 in different districts. This year, ILD will be celebrated at Mapholaneng in the district of Mokhotlong on the 12th of September 2019. The highlight of the day will be delivering of speeches as well as awarding of certificates to the learners who have acquired literacy and numeracy skills by the Honourable Minister of Education and Training in Lesotho.

This years’ theme is Literacy and Multilingualism.
