Finsch Diamond Mine is located in the town of Lime Acres which is situated 160km north west of Kimberley and 109km south of
Kuruman in the Northern Cape.
JOB GRADE: C2T Reference Nr: FIN382
JOB DESCRIPTION: The position reports to the Sub Level Caving Shift Boss and operates the Long Hole Drill Rig during the ore
extraction process in sub-level caves to ensure optimal utilisation of people and equipment to obtain production targets.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Conduct general long hole mining and drilling responsibilities during Sub Level Caving operations
Control the optimal utilisation of allocated resources
Identify deviations or non-conformances and report to applicable accountable functional section
Monitor and maintain a safe and healthy working environment in the work place
Examining and declaring workplaces safe and healthy for work
Responsible for reporting mechanical errors
Responsible for reporting technological errors
Pre start checking of Drill Rig and equipment in line with specified requirements
Perform risk assessments and COP’s
Ensure adherence to related legislation and company policies and procedures
Candidate must be willing to work FULCO/CONTOPS shifts
Minimum Requirements:
Grade 12
Blasting Certificate OR National Certificate Rockbreaking Underground Hard Rock Level 3
Minimum 2 years’ experience as an Underground Miner (preferably in a long hole mining environment); OR
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Miner in a production/trackless environment
Valid driver’s license
Advantage:
Computer literacy (MS Office Suite)
Previous experience of Long Hole Drill Rig operation – please indicate on your CV
