Organizational Setting
The Division of Information Technology provides support to the IAEA in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), including information systems for technical programmes and management.
It is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing an ICT strategy, setting and enforcing common ICT standards throughout the Secretariat, and managing central ICT services. The IAEA’s ICT infrastructure comprises hardware and software platforms, cloud services, and externally hosted services.
The Division has implemented an IT service management model based on ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) and PRINCE2 (Projects in a Controlled Environment) best practices.
The Client Services Section (CSS) is responsible for setting standards, providing first and second-level support for the IAEA’s desktop computing environment, delivering the IAEA’s IT training programme, and promoting client-oriented services.
It designs, manages, and implements desktop services, including architecture, processes, and policies to meet current and future business requirements. It aims to deliver agreed service levels to clients in compliance with international standards, particularly ITIL.
Main Purpose
The Microsoft 365 Platform Specialist leads the design, implementation, governance, and continuous improvement of Microsoft 365 services across the organization.
The role ensures that Microsoft 365 workloads, including:
- Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Copilot Studio)
- Power BI
- Microsoft Teams
- OneDrive for Business
- SharePoint Online
are configured, integrated, and optimized to meet evolving business needs, enhance collaboration, and support secure digital transformation.
Role
The Microsoft 365 Platform Specialist is:
- A technical specialist responsible for the architecture, configuration, and lifecycle management of Microsoft 365 services, ensuring alignment with enterprise IT standards and business objectives.
- A governance enabler, defining and enforcing policies, security controls, and compliance frameworks for Microsoft 365 workloads in collaboration with cybersecurity and IT governance teams.
- A solution architect, designing and delivering scalable, secure, and user-centric digital solutions while translating organizational needs into robust Microsoft 365 solutions that enhance productivity, collaboration, and compliance.
- A mentor and collaborator, supporting knowledge transfer, guiding junior staff, and engaging with stakeholders across departments to drive adoption, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Functions / Key Results Expected
- Design, configure, and optimize Microsoft 365 workloads, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, standards, security best practices, and IT architecture standards.
- Define and implement governance policies, security controls, and lifecycle management practices for Microsoft 365 services.
- Architect and deliver advanced solutions using Power Platform, Power BI, SharePoint Online, and Teams, including integrations with third-party systems.
- Monitor Microsoft’s roadmap and proactively manage the adoption of new features, ensuring readiness and minimizing disruption.
- Provide expert-level support and guidance to internal clients and IT teams, resolving complex issues and ensuring service continuity.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, governance artefacts, and reusable templates to support standardization and knowledge sharing.
- Lead or contribute to cross-functional projects involving Microsoft 365, including migrations, upgrades, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Mentor and support junior staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the Microsoft 365 Centre of Excellence.

Required Expertise
Information Technology – Data Analysis
AI and Copilot Integration. Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot capabilities and integrating AI-driven features into business processes. Understanding of data analysis within Microsoft 365 tools.
Information Technology – Systems Administration
Deep understanding of Microsoft 365 services, including Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Power Platform, and Power BI. Ability to design and implement integrated solutions, including secure identity management with Microsoft Entra ID and Conditional Access.
Asset Expertise
Information Technology – Cloud Computing
Experience administering enterprise cloud systems and troubleshooting IT incidents. Skilled in automation and integration using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, REST APIs, and systems such as ServiceNow.
Information Technology – Computer Operations
Endpoint and device management. Proficiency in Microsoft Intune and Endpoint Manager for device security and access control. Knowledge of Microsoft 365 licensing models and cost optimization strategies.
Information Technology – IT Security
Strong knowledge of security best practices and information security principles for Microsoft 365. Expertise in governance frameworks, data protection policies, and compliance controls.
Information Technology – Project Management
Experience leading IT projects using methodologies such as ITIL, PMP, or PRINCE2, with a focus on change enablement and stakeholder engagement.
Qualifications, Experience and Language Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, IT Engineering, or a related field such as Information Management, Electronic Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Internationally recognized Project Management certification such as PMP or PRINCE2 is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience administering and supporting Microsoft 365 services in an enterprise environment.
- Internationally recognized Information Security certification is desirable.
- Microsoft certification for software development/design using Microsoft platform-related tools.
- Proven experience configuring and managing Microsoft 365 workloads, including Power Platform, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, and Copilot Agent.
- Experience implementing governance policies, security configurations, and compliance controls within Microsoft 365.
- Familiarity with scripting and automation using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, and REST APIs.
- Experience supporting user adoption, training, and documentation for Microsoft 365 tools.
- Knowledge of ITIL-based service management practices is desirable.
Microsoft certifications such as:
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator Associate
- Power Platform Functional Consultant Associate
- Equivalent certifications
are considered assets.
- Excellent oral and written command of English.
- Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an asset.
Remuneration
The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including:
- Tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $71,335 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance)
