Objectives of the Position:

Mercedes-Benz South Africa, a wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler who has an international footprint is looking for a Media Specialist in the Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars Department.

To pro-actively manage the external perception, image and reputation of the Mercedes-Benz Cars through targeted media strategies, media relationship building, and external corporate profiling opportunities. To keep abreast of internal and external business imperatives that will allow the achievement and maintenance of a high level of customer satisfaction via operational tasks. To ensure that all media strate8ies are aligned and implemented accordingly. To provide consultation and advice to the business with regard to media issues, as well as issues that pose a reputational risk or impact on the image of the company, specifically pertaining to MBC. To be instrumental in an improved competitive positioning of the division in compliance to the Company’s integrity & Anti-Bribery Codes, Conflict of interest Policy & S.H.E.Q requirements and to perform delegated S.H.E.Q tasks and duties & to inform superior about deviations.. To perform duties in compliance to the Company’s Integrity Codes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Positioning Mercedes-Benz Cars: Develop and maintain relationships with the media (national and international), that can be leveraged to disseminate company information in the form of well researched, factually correct and timeous media releases and advertorials. To use information from media monitoring and research to identify relevant media and trends, while ensuring that messages are targeted to the publication/station. This is a strategic approach to position all areas for the Group of Companies, with main focus on MBC product and activities and dominate share of voice in all media channels – ensuring alignment with social media messages. Align our international position, systems processes and guidelines – Relating to 423 policy.


  • Media Platforms:
    Prepare, draft and action the work to corporate identity standards, with the final copy approved and signed off by relevant individual before publication/distribution. Press releases, product presentations, speeches, technical information and product dissemination including price lists and relevant product material. Ensure that the messages are published within agreed time frames, in clear, concise and relevant context with the accurate use of grammar and spelling. Key messages and profiling of leadership. Consult relevant experts to ensure alignment of MBSA and the group of companies.


  • Consultancy:
    To be an active consultant and advisor to help business make use of all systems, process and platforms, which are available. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with internal, external stakeholders, agencies and the public according to company policies and procedures. Liaise regularly by conducting personal visits, telephonic follow-ups, attending various relevant activities and email.


  • Budget coordination:
    Coordinate and keep inventory on all projects and travel that impact the budget. Alert compliance dept. of any irregularities around issues relating to media activities: e.g. hotel and travel arrangements – local and international.


  • Continuous improvement
    : All operational activities to be actioned accordingly.
