Applications are invited for suitably qualified local candidates for the Positions of Mental Health Nurse, Registered Nurse Midwife and Nursing Assistant at Seboche Mission Hospital. The Incumbents will be expected to perform their individual nursing duties aligning themselves with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and upholding the regulations and policies of Seboche Mission Hospital.
1. JOB TITLE: Mental Health Nurse (MHN) (1)
RESPONSIBLE TO: Coordinator Departmental Nursing Services (CDNS)
JOB SUMMARY:
MHN works with children, adults and older people suffering from various types of mental health problems. As a registered MHN, you may work with clients in their own homes, health center & in hospital area.
REQUIREMENTS:
– COSC, Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery, Diploma or Degree in Psychiatric Nursing, registered with Lesotho Nursing Council (LNC) and holding the valid license. Minimum of two years working experience in nursing field is an added advantage.
MAIN DUTIES:
– Caring for patients who are experiencing acute mental distress or have an enduring mental health problem;
– Assessing and talking to patients about their problems and discussing the best way to plan and deliver their care;
– Building relationships with patients to encourage trust, while listening to and interpreting their needs and concerns;
– Ensuring the correct administration of medication, including injections, and monitoring the results of treatment;
– Responding to distressed patients in a non-threatening manner and attempting to understand the source of distress;
PERSONAL QUALITIES:
The incumbent must have the following qualities that would enable him /her to work productively in the Roman Catholic Health Facility: Professionalism and accountability, high level of maturity, honesty and trustworthy. An individual who is adaptive enough to familiarize himself/herself with the principles of the Roman Catholic Church and its health facilities.
SKILLS:
The following skills and aspects of professionalism enable Mental Health Nurse to perform his or her duties:
– Strong oral and written communication skills,
– Ability to perform multitasks.
– Computer literacy
– Problem Solving and listening skills
– Customer care services
– Ability to work at rural area
