Nthabiseng Khetsi is a singer and songwriter who is ready to take on the world. She was born in Khubetsoana, Maseru. She is passionate about music.

Nthabiseng has made it to the top 3 finalists of Step-Up Lesotho. Step-Up is a reality show that gives opportunities to aspiring musicians to be the next superstar.

Contestants must battle it out with thousands of other hopefuls for an opportunity to enter the Step-Up House, overcome various obstacles, and impress the judges and viewers with the aim of emerging as the next music superstar.

The show is hosted by a vibrant presenter, features a group of judges from diverse backgrounds, music coaches and choreographers. When the contestants reach the Step-Up House they are put through real life situations musicians face on a regular basis such as organising and promoting club performances, photo shoots and media interviews.

In addition to their singing abilities, the contestants are also judged on how they handle these life situations with the hope of finding the total package – a superstar ready to take on the world.

The competition is at Top 3 and it’s tight. Everyone is a star and the pressure is on. The grand finale is set for Sunday, 06 October 2019 at Manthabiseng Convention Center.

We had a chat with Nthabiseng and the transcript of the conversation is below.

What drew you to the music industry?

I discovered from a young age that I had a musical talent and I knew I just wanted to use it to get in touch with the world. I just want to use my voice to serve, heal and encourage people.

Who are you inspired by?

‘M’e Puseletso Seema has been a big inspiration from a young age, leading the way and showing us its possible for us women to do anything. And Tasha Cobbs who uses her voice to change lives.

Is there a hidden meaning in any of your music?

There’s nothing hidden in my songs. I sing songs of praise to God and inspiration to people.

What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?

Believe in God who has given you talents and believe in yourself to do the right thing with those gifts. Be willing to do all it takes to get to your dreams, it will not be easy but it’s possible.

If you can have your fans remember one thing about you, what would it be?

My love and appreciation for them. They affirm me so much. May they remember me as an ordinary girl who sang and brought some vibrancy and life into their lives.

Do you think you could get any better as a musician? And if so, how would you achieve that?

Yes I should and I will. All I need to do is continue to work hard, be teachable, get the right vocal coaches, network and create impactful relationships with giants in the industry.

If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?

I love you all. Thanks for loving, supporting and believing in me.

Beyond Step-Up, what are you hopes in the music industry?

To be able to produce my music and share it with the world.
