Classification:                   Full-time, fixed term contract with possibility of renewal

The medical officers will lead multidisciplinary district teams in the provision of HIV Testing Services, Prevention, Care & Treatment of HIV and TB, Cervical Cancer Screening & Treatment, & Post Gender Based Violence Care:

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide direct clinical care and mentorship services to children, adolescents and families.
  • Identify clients with suspected or confirmed HIV treatment failure, present to ART Advisory Committee as needed and manage 2nd-line and 3rd-line regimens as needed
  • Maintain proper record keeping of all activities with regard to patient care, national statistics and research activities.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise other health professionals at supported hospitals and health centres on HIV and TB prevention, diagnosis & management, Cervical Cancer Screening & treatment,& Post Gender Based Violence Care. 
  • Provide clinical review of complicated paediatric, adolescent and adult HIV, TB & TB/HIV cases
  • Collaborate with DHMT officials to improve paediatric, adolescent & adult HIV& TB prevention, care and treatment within the district
  • Communicate regularly with supervisor regarding implementation of activities
  • Perform other duties that are assigned by the administration

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Medical Degree- MD/MBBS/MBChB, Postgraduate qualification is an added advantage
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in HIV/AIDS and TB/HIV clinical care
  • Knowledge and experience in quality improvement is an added advantage
  • Registration with the Lesotho Medical, Dental and Pharmacy Council as a General Practitioner

KEY COMPETENCIES:

·   Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues in a team environment

·   Willing to work beyond normal working hours
