TB ELIMINATION PROJECT – MOHALE’S HOEK DISTRICT

Partners In Health (PIH) Lesotho is launching a TB elimination project in Mohale’s Hoek district to accompany the Ministry of Health in TB elimination efforts. To eliminate TB, it is important to have a strong and robust active TB case finding at the health facilities and community levels.

Under the TB Elimination project, PIH Lesotho will strengthen TB search, treat and prevent approaches to improve TB case findings and ultimately eliminate TB. PIH Lesotho is therefore seeking suitably qualified and competent candidates to fill the following positions.


MEDICAL OFFICER

  • Mobile Clinic – Mohale’s Hoek (1)

Position Overview
The Medical Officer will oversee TB clinical and programmatic activities including screening, testing, contact tracing, and treatment initiation. The role includes ensuring quality TB services at Ntse’khe Hospital and through the mobile clinic while upholding medical ethics, patient confidentiality, and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day high-quality TB care along the continuum of care
  • Manage TB patients at hospital and mobile clinic levels
  • Ensure enrolment of TB-negative patients into TB Preventive Therapy
  • Ensure proper screening and follow-up of TB contacts
  • Coordinate the overall TB program at Ntse’khe Hospital
  • Ensure quality treatment, prescriptions, and adherence to national guidelines
  • Participate in district PIH performance review meetings
  • Supervise and oversee hospital and mobile clinic teams
  • Ensure referral of DR-TB patients to appropriate levels of care
  • Support and participate in PIH-Lesotho trainings
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Project Technical Lead

Minimum Qualification

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Medical Degree
  • Postgraduate degree in Public Health or Global Health is an added advantage
  • Minimum of 3 years’ clinical experience
  • At least 1 year of experience working on TB projects
  • Current registration in good standing with the Lesotho Medical Council
  • Commitment to serving marginalized populations
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
