Summary:

The Medical Information Manager (MIM) responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Customer facing (frontline) activities: Providing technical and medical information with high quality customer service in the corresponding local languages.
  • Secondline/TA activities: supporting the development of Therapy Area strategy for AFME and preparing or customizing responses for medical inquiries in English to be used locally and regionally as required and analysis of inquiry trends to support departmental and company objectives
  • Cluster/Business Unit Relations and Partnership activities: supporting and driving relationships with corresponding clusters and key markets as well as the Business Units/ Commercial/Therapeutic Team(s)

This role is a member of the extended AFMEI Regional Leadership Forum.

Details:

Customer Facing (Frontline) Medical Information Request Management

  • Research and respond to inquiries received via corresponding channels such as phone, email, internet or mail within the required timelines and standards.
  • Exhibit broad/general understanding and knowledge of common product information and enquiries for the local clusters/countries.
  • Document the inquiry and response accurately and completely according to relevant Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)/ Work Instruction (WI), and regulatory guidelines.
  • Identify and record, or triage to responsible designee, adverse events and product quality complaints as well as process fulfillment.
  • Provide response in customer’s local languages using approved resources in English.

Secondline Medical Information Content Management

  • Forms AFME representation of assigned TA in close collaboration with Regional TA Lead.
  • Exhibits broad knowledge of assigned therapeutic area and a solid understanding of pertinent disease state(s) as appropriate.
  • Creates and/or customizes (localizes) and maintains MI response documents as required, by ensuring that responses are medically and scientifically accurate, balanced, and meet customers’ needs.
  • Ensures the alignment of response documents to local labeling and licensing for the corresponding countries.
  • Reviews and approves MI documents completed by others.

Cluster and Business Unit Relations and Partnerships

  • Plays an active role in defining, developing and delivering annual operating plans for corresponding AFME clusters.
  • Explores innovative ideas to identify experiments/pilots that drive MI vision and mission and collaborates and/leads across regions on initiatives/projects as needed (e.g.EMC Regional Lead).
  • Manages awareness projects as applicable and within the strategic imperatives.
  • Acts as MI Cluster Relationship Manager (CRM), including liaising with the relevant Country Medical Council(s) and corresponding commercial teams (TA/BU).
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders where applicable to ensure MI responses are appropriately aligned within the scope of MI and Pfizer Medical.
  • Analyzes inquiry data to identify trends and communicates key points to relevant stakeholders.
  • Represents Pfizer by providing live/virtual MI support at scientific conventions/congresses.
  • Collaborate and/or provide training and support activities as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with corporate and departmental trainings, SOPs and WIs.

Education and Experience

  • Life science graduate preferred. PharmD, BS in Pharmacy, or MD/DO strongly preferred. Degrees from other medical disciplines and or life sciences also considered
  • Candidates with pertinent industry-related experience and/or post-graduate specialty/residency are desirable
  • 1-3 years of medical information experience preferred
  • Demonstrates effective relationship management and customer orientation
  • Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates keen analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
  • Proficiency with computer and software applications (i.e., Microsoft office)
  • Experience of working a virtual environment would be advantageous

Technical Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Customer facing experience advantageous
  • Medical Writing experience advantageous
  • Ability to interpret and relay technical information
  • Proficient computer and keyboarding skills

Other requirements

  • May be required to work occasional bank holidays.
  • May be required to work hours outside of the normal local working hours.
