RESPONSIBLE TO: Head of Department – Research, Evaluation & Media (REM)

LOCATION: National University of Lesotho (IEMS- Maseru)

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

The technician is expected to coordinates and perform a broad range of technical functions connected to the production, design, set up, and implementation of media equipment and productions.

• The applicant must have bachelor degree media/multimedia production systems, or radio, television and photography (still and motion) production.
• At least three (3) years working experience in film production and media studies.
• Two (2) years working experience at a tertiary institution will be added advantage.
• The applicant must be able to produce a broad range of multimedia products in relation to radio, television, photography and film.
• She/he must be conversant with media industry standards and regulations.
• She/he must be able to demonstrate familiarity with radio, photography and/or film production hardware and software technologies.
• Experience of working with industry partners in film and media.
• General knowledge of the contemporary film & media landscape from a production perspective and/or experience of filmmaking practice.

The successful applicant will work in a team that teaches and produces various multimedia resources in respect of radio, television, film & photography. Furthermore, he/she may contribute in creation of open and distance learning materials.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee the use of various media equipment, including video, film, photographic and audio equipment.
• Oversee or operate highly technical or complex equipment, such as multimedia and computer projection equipment.
• Assist in training, scheduling, and distributing work of other staff, members, students, casuals and temporary workers.
• Provide information and advice to a diverse University public on technically complex matters.
• Respond skillfully to a high volume of University client’s issues and requests in terms of multimedia resources and productions.
• Consult with clients in the planning of media production projects or events, and in developing budgets.
• Responsibility for quality control aspects of media production.
• Coordinate equipment installation, maintenance and repair needs.
• Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on equipment and systems.
• Make recommendations for equipment purchases, system design, and facility utilization.
• Perform related job duties as required.

Remuneration

The University offers salaries and benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Employment type

Permanent and pensionable/gratuitable terms for Locals, and Two Years Contract for Non-Locals with a possibility of renewal.
