Corruption Watch seeks to appoint a Media Liaison Officer to be based in Braamfontein, Johannesburg,
The purpose of the job is to assist in raising the organisational profile and brand of Corruption Watch (CW), in particular through engagement and liaison with the media as a conduit to providing information to the general public. To provide support to the planning, development and implementation of CW’s communication strategies that help to increase awareness and understanding of CW’s work.
Duration: 4 Month Contract – Maternity Cover
Responsibilities:
Media relations and monitoring, including creating strategies that support CW campaigns and activities, building and maintaining relationships with media, pitching story ideas, and monitoring CW’s profile in the media.
Manage spokespeople relationships and presence in media, providing guidance and feedback, with support from line managers.
Provide guidance and feedback to spokespeople to build capacity and improve performance.
Content development and stakeholder communication: provide support and draft content for weekly and monthly newsletters.
Requirements:
1 – 2 Years experience in media relations and online media.
Knowledge and experience of media landscape.
A communications degree or relevant equivalent.
