Job Summary:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Automation and System Integration
• Design, develop, and maintain automated systems for cannabis cultivation, processing, extraction, and packaging.
• Integrate mechanical, electrical, and control systems to ensure seamless operation of climate control, irrigation, lighting, trimming, and drying equipment.
2. Equipment Design and Maintenance
• Customize and optimize machinery used in cannabis production to meet compliance and operational standards.
• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on automated systems and robotic equipment.
3. Environmental Control Systems
• Develop and manage HVAC, CO₂ delivery, humidity, and light automation systems to support optimal plant growth.
• Ensure environmental systems are energy-efficient, compliant with regulations, and capable of precise monitoring.
4. Process Monitoring and Data Analysis
• Implement sensors and control systems to monitor critical metrics such as temperature, humidity, pH, and nutrient levels.
• Analyze data to identify inefficiencies and improve process reliability, yield, and consistency.
5. Compliance and Safety
• Ensure all mechatronic systems comply with health, safety, and cannabis industry regulations (e.g., GMP, GACP).
• Collaborate with compliance teams to maintain traceability and documentation for regulated equipment.
6. Collaboration and Project Management
• Work closely with cultivation managers, extraction technicians, and packaging teams to identify automation needs.
• Lead or support the implementation of new systems, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.
7. Software and Control Systems
• Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems to control and monitor automated cannabis equipment.
• Develop user-friendly interfaces for operators and train staff on system usage and troubleshooting.
Tools and Technologies Commonly Used:
• Design and develop mechanical systems integrated with electronics and software.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create smart products and automated systems.
• Develop and test prototypes, ensuring functionality, efficiency, and reliability.
• Use CAD, simulation tools, and programming environments to support design and testing.
• Troubleshoot and optimize systems, ensuring safety, cost-efficiency, and performance.
• Write technical documentation, including design specifications, testing procedures, and reports.
• Maintain knowledge of industry trends, standards, and technological advances.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink).
• Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi, PIC), and control systems.
• Strong programming skills in languages such as C/C++, Python, or LabVIEW.
• Knowledge of robotics, automation systems, and sensor integration.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelors’ degree or relevant certifications in Mechatronics or Automation.
• Experience with PLC programming and industrial control systems.
• Familiarity with IoT devices and smart manufacturing technologies.
Background in project management or experience working in agile development environments.
