Koffiefontein Diamond Mine is based in the town of Koffiefontein, located 100km from Kimberley and 136km from Bloemfontein.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for the installation, maintenance, fault finding and repair within the control and instrumentation
discipline.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Calibrate instruments to ensure quality end product
Conduct fault finding on control systems in quickest possible time, reporting on faults, and correcting diagnosis of the problem
Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act Regulations and Manufacturing and Company Standards
to report all defects and breakdowns on equipment and machinery to the foreman
Perform risk assessments (Activity based and Mini)
Perform trip and alarm checks
Report damaged equipment and repair plant defects
Responsible for assembling/commissioning, decommissioning, installing and maintaining instruments and equipment
Responsible for performing basic rigging activities in line of duty
Responsible to apply the lock-out procedure as per company policy
Responsible to interpret process trends
Responsible to perform general housekeeping duties
Identify spares requirements and order according to departmental procedure
Conduct fault finding on PLCs and field instrumentation
Responsible to install and maintain networks
Responsible to de-energize and lock-out equipment
Responsible for the maintenance of x-ray and radiation equipment
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Grade 10
N2 National Certificate
Instrument Mechanician Trade Certificate through a recognised institution and/or apprenticeship**
3 years post Apprenticeship/Qualification experience as an Instrument Mechanician
Valid Drivers’ License
ADVANTAGEOUS:
Grade 12
Computer Literate
Experience in a Mining environment
Allen Bradley RS logic 5000 or Siemens S7 PLC hardware and software training certificate
InTouch Wonderware SCADA software configuration training certificate
** Candidates holding a QCTO (Section 26D) Trade Test, where the learning route is not specified on the Certificate, must submit the
following: Statement of results issued by an accredited MQA trade test centre as well as evidence of training conducted at a technical
training centre (e.g. Portfolio of Evidence, Logbooks). Should these documents not be submitted, the application will not be
considered. Candidates holding S28 Trade Test certificates from non-Mining Sector centres will not be considered.
