Job Description
The overall purpose of the position is to support the Strategic Information (SI) & Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Department with routine strategic information and monitoring assignments. These include conducting field‑level data quality and data‑management activities to ensure processes are completed accurately and on time.
The M&E Assistant will ensure that field staff are using standard data‑collection tools (LODIIS), conduct routine data verifications, and support identification of capacity‑building needs for field staff. The role also includes troubleshooting m2m M‑Health applications (LODIIS) and ensuring sustained usability by all field personnel.
Key Performance Areas
Data Collection
• Conduct routine data verifications
• Ensure complete and accurate data collection and reporting
• Follow up on missing reporting forms and implement data‑quality controls
• Identify gaps in data‑collection skills among site staff and provide on‑site training
• Ensure field staff understand LODIIS data forms and relevant data elements
• Ensure site staff have required tools at all times
Data Quality Management
• Provide troubleshooting support to field staff regarding gadgets
• Submit queries timeously to SI Coordinators
Training and Development
• Identify capacity‑building needs for field staff
• Provide on‑site training as guided by the SI & M&E Department
Routine Reporting
• Participate in m2m Annual Evaluation and other operational research activities
• Support data extraction, capturing, and data cleaning
External Relationships
• Represent the m2m M&E Department at district‑level meetings
• Collaborate with other stakeholders working towards similar objectives
• Participate in district data‑quality meetings, PHC meetings, and quality‑improvement forums at district and national levels
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
• Degree in Statistics, Demography, Economics, or a related field
• Minimum of one (1) year’s experience in Monitoring and Evaluation
Competencies
• Basic understanding of HIV/AIDS indicators and performance‑tracking tools
• Strong numeracy skills
• Basic filing skills
• Fluency in English and Sesotho (essential)
• Basic understanding of digital health platforms (e.g. CommCare, DHIS2)
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access
• Familiarity with data‑analysis software and data visualisation
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability and willingness to meet reporting deadlines
• Ability to work independently and under pressure
• Willingness to learn and take direction on the job
• Ability to multi‑task and apply practical problem‑solving skills
• Positive contribution to the performance of the SI & M&E Team
• Willingness and ability to uphold m2m values
