Job Summary:
The Matron is responsible for the promotion and restoration of the health of patients by developing day-to-day management and long-term planning of the patient care; directing and developing staff ; collaborating with
physicians and multidisciplinary professional staff ; providing physical and psychological support for the patients, families and friends.

Key Roles/Responsibilities:
 Ensures that the nursing staff upholds and complies with the healthcare and general policies, regulations, procedures and standards;
 Assures and provides quality healthcare to the patients and all concerned;
 Protects patients, relatives, visitors, employee and community at large against nosocomial infections;
 Maintains safe and clean working environment essential for a healthcare facility;
 Ensures availability, operation and maintenance of essential medical equipment;
 Achieves financial and general objectives essential for a commercial private hospital.

Job Specifications:
 Education:

A graduate from a recognised nursing institution with diploma in midwifery and a degree in general nursing or equivalent. A postgraduate qualification in either health or management studies would be an added advantage. Registration with the Lesotho Nursing Council is mandatory

 Experience:
-A minimum of five years working experience in a hospital, three of which must have been in senior management positions.

 Job Knowledge:
• Must understand the patient care processes, be familiar with emergency procedures, pharmacology and safety;
• Must possess skills in nursing care, effective communication, problem solving, information and communication technology;
• Must possess and have ability to apply the requisite managerial skills, and be familiar with the planning and budgeting processes.

 Remuneration:
