1. Job Summary
The Matron is responsible for promoting and restoring the health of patients by managing day-to-day operations and long-term planning of patient care. This includes directing and developing staff, collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, and providing physical and psychological support to patients, families, and friends.
2. Key Roles & Responsibilities
✓ Ensure nursing staff comply with hospital policies, regulations, procedures, and standards
✓ Provide and assure quality healthcare to patients and stakeholders
✓ Protect patients, staff, and visitors from nosocomial infections
✓ Maintain a safe and clean working environment
✓ Ensure availability and maintenance of essential medical equipment
✓ Achieve financial and operational objectives of a commercial private hospital
3. Job Specifications
✓ Education
• Diploma in Midwifery and Degree in General Nursing or equivalent from a recognized institution
• Postgraduate qualification in health or management studies is an added advantage
• Registration with the Lesotho Nursing Council is mandatory
✓ Experience
• Minimum of 5 years working experience in a hospital
• At least 3 years in senior management roles
✓ Job Knowledge
• Understanding of patient care processes, emergency procedures, pharmacology, and safety
• Skills in nursing care, communication, problem-solving, and ICT
• Managerial skills with knowledge of planning and budgeting processes
✓ Remuneration
