Job Summary

As a Product Marketing Manager (for research and diagnostics) for the Sub-Saharan African region, candidates should define strategic priorities for the products providing NGS solutions for research and clinical customers in institutions, hospitals, universities, and diagnostic companies in the region. The candidate will be expected to develop and execute short and long-term tactical and regional marketing strategies, combining HQ’s product strategy and the situation of the local market to customize the product strategy across SSA that will drive MGI awareness and revenue. The candidate should have a strong knowledge of the NGS market, experience in developing, executing, and managing multiple campaigns or projects, be based in Sub-Saharan Africa, and have previous commercial experience is expected.

Major Responsibilities

• Define strategic priorities for the products providing NGS solutions for research and diagnostics in institutions, clinical centers, hospitals, and research and diagnostic companies across the sub-Saharan African region.

• Develop and lead the execution of tactical marketing initiatives, including marketing campaigns, conferences, webinars, and lead generation activities across the region.

• Work with the MGI Product and Marketing Managers and EUAF commercial team to develop effective customer segmentation strategies, useful value propositions and key messages specific to the SSA NGS market segment.

• Manage and develop the product portfolio and regional product marketing strategy to provide NGS solutions; create and develop a marketing strategy of bundles to promote MGI 2 products in the responsible region

• Collect market information and provide regional market analysis: market & customer trends; competition overview (price, quality, product line, reputation, local market share, etc.); identify needs for regional marketing collaterals; and propose targeted solutions for differentiation strategy.

• Routinely communicate with the commercial sales and FAS team regarding product updates and availability, competitive activity, sales positioning, best practices, and new product development updates.

• Routinely work with the region on pricing strategy and product strategy execution.

• Define and implement regional launch plans for responsible products.

• Develop and cultivate a regional KOL network, generate marketing materials, and cultivate 3 rd party collaboration based on the strategic plan to broaden awareness.

• Create monthly & quarterly marketing reports for responsible products.

• Support distributor activities with training and updated materials and communications on an ongoing basis.

• Actively work and support the commercial team with distribution sales channels.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or Biology required, advanced degree preferred.

• Must have 4+ years’ experience in commercial marketing, business development, customer management, and lead generation activities in the Life Science research or IVD industry; experience in commercial product launch, product lifecycle management, ability to conduct product portfolio analysis, investigate new product opportunities required.

• Experience in digital marketing is a plus

• Strong background in research or clinical solutions based on NGS technology; experience in the NGS market is required

• Knowledge and experience of NGS in countries within the SSA market are key

• Knowledge of the IVD market and regulation is a plus

• Proven project management skills required, along with the ability to influence and lead teams and prioritize heavy workloads to meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment directly or indirectly

• Ability to travel up to 40% of the time, travel may take place on weekends and outside of normal business hours

• Require high levels of self-motivation and energy

• Excellent written and oral communications & presentation skills; working language is English, additional languages are beneficial

• Excellent leadership and team spirit
